Semi-finals set as field whittled down to final four

The final four is set at the 2026 Junior Boys Basketball Invitational Tournament.

The tournament reached its halfway point at Langley Events Centre following Sunday’s action with the semi-final matchups now confirmed. The first will feature the top-seeded Vancouver College Fighting Irish, who will battle the fourth-seed Brookswood Bobcats (Township of Langley)

The second semi-final sees the No. 2 Burnaby South Rebels against the No. 3 Holy Cross Crusaders.

Both games will be played on the South Court at Langley Events Centre on Monday (February 23) beginning at 6:30pm.

Vancouver College 87 Walnut Grove 53

The tournament’s top seed wasted no time taking control, building a double-digit lead in the opening quarter and rolling to an 87-53 win over the Walnut Grove Gators.

Vancouver College knocked down 11 three-pointers, with Koen Li leading the charge. Li buried five from beyond the arc on his way to a game-high 25 points. He was one of four Irish players in double figures, as Lucas Villanueva and Ben Meichenbaum each added 15.

Brookswood Bobcats 57 Heritage Woods Kodiaks 46

With their cushion trimmed to seven in the fourth quarter, the Brookswood Bobcats responded in emphatic fashion, scoring nine of the next 11 points to secure a 57-46 victory over the Heritage Woods Kodiaks.

Grade 9 guard Mason Nohr led the way with 15 points, while 6-foot-3 forward Tyson Kenyon added 13 and 6-foot-7 forward Marcu Tyler chipped in 10. Daveen Rahimi paced all scorers with 22 points in the loss.

Burnaby South Rebels 65 Brentwood College 38

After being pushed to the brink the day before, the Burnaby South Rebels left no doubt this time, using an 18-0 run to fuel a commanding 65-38 victory over Brentwood College.

Miguel Samson paced the Rebels with 20 points, while Nolan Ellis added 18 — 16 of them coming in the first half to set the tone early. Tiger Liu led Brentwood College with 13 points.

Holy Cross Crusaders 50 Vancouver Technical Talismen 46

The tightest of the four semi-finals came down to the final minutes, as Surrey’s Holy Cross Crusaders edged the Vancouver Technical Talismen 50-46.

Darren Amadi and Isaiah German paced the Crusaders with 12 points apiece. For the Talismen, Musa Whelan-Sadike scored 12 while Elias Leacock added 10 in the narrow defeat.
