Panthers, Lightning, Blue Jags, Condors in final four

A pair of programs with recent championship pedigree will square off in one of the BC School Sports 3A Girls Basketball Provincial Tournament semi-finals while the other sees the top-seed Vernon Panthers face the Duchess Park Condors.
The Langley Christian Lightning are set to face Victoria’s St. Michaels University School Blue Jags in the semi-final round. Both teams moved up a level this year, but at the 2A Tournament, the Lightning won the 2024 title while the Blue Jags took home the championship last year.

Langley Christian Lightning 79 Sa-Hali Sabres 48
Payton Brunoro poured in a game-high 29 points — 19 of them coming in the first half — as the Langley Christian Lightning rolled past Kamloops’ Sa-Hali Sabres. Gabby Vis added 17 points while Georgia Van der Warde chipped in 12 in a balanced attack. Langley Christian seized control early, erupting for a 24-7 first quarter to put the game firmly in hand. Gwen Storry led the Sabres in scoring.
St. Michaels University School Blue Jags 53 Pitt Meadows Marauders 29
Defence set the tone for St. Michaels University School, as the Blue Jags limited Pitt Meadows to single digits in three of four quarters on their way to a 53-29 victory. Elspeth Rodger scored 21 points to pace SMUS, while Jocely Boyes had 10 for the Marauders.
Duchess Park Condors 62 Mark R. Isfeld Ice 35
Prince George’s Duchess Park Condors used a dominant 11-0 run to close the first half, turning a tight contest into a comfortable cushion on their way to a 62-35 victory over the Mark R. Isfeld Ice and a berth in the final four. Devyn Bjorn led the way with 16 points, Ana MacKenzie added 15, and Rylan Boccabella scored 17 to lead the Ice.
Vernon Panthers 55 Valleyview Vikes 48
Chloe Collins knocked down five shots from beyond the arc, finishing with 17 points as the top-seeded Vernon Vipers edged the Valleyview Vikes 55-48 in the tightest quarter-final matchup in the tier. Adie Janke added 15 points in support for Vernon. Valleyview countered with 16 points from Sameera Gill and 15 from Claire McLoughlin in the hard-fought loss.
