Panthers and Lightning ready to clash in 3A final
Championship Saturday is set at Langley Events Centre.
With three days in the books at the BC School Sports Girls Basketball Provincial Championships, eight teams remain in the hunt for provincial glory in their respective tiers as the four-day, 64-team, 128-game championships gets set for its conclusion.
All four finals will be played on the Ken Winslade Court in the Arena Bowl on Saturday (February 28).
1A: Acwsalcta Thunder vs. Cedars Christian – 1:00pm
2A: Holy Cross Crusaders vs. St. Thomas More Collegiate – 3:15pm
3A: Vernon vs. Langley Christian – 5:30pm
4A: Argyle vs. Riverside – 7:45pm
The top two seeds are set to clash for the title, with No. 1 Vernon and No. 2 Langley Christian each emerging victorious in their semi-final matchups, setting the stage for a championship showdown at the BC School Sports 3A Girls Basketball Provincial Tournament.

Langley Christian Lightning 66 (#2) St. Michaels University School Blue Jags (#3, Victoria) 58
The Langley Christian Lightning were in control for nearly the entire contest, leading for all but 93 seconds in a 66-58 victory over the St. Michaels University School Blue Jags to secure their spot in the championship final.
LCS stormed out of the gate with 17 of the game’s first 19 points, setting the tone early. The Blue Jags responded with a push in the second quarter to briefly grab the lead, but the Lightning quickly regrouped and reclaimed control down the stretch.
Georgia Van Der Waarde paced Langley Christian with 22 points, while Gaby Vis delivered a dominant all-around performance, posting a double-double with 13 points and 13 rebounds to go with three assists, two steals and two blocked shots. Mya Bears led St. Michaels University School with 22 points in the loss.

Vernon Panthers (#1) 61 Duchess Park Condors (#5, Prince George) 50
Chloe Collins caught fire from long range, pouring in 25 points — including 15 from beyond the arc — to lift the Vernon Panthers to a 61-50 victory over the Duchess Park Condors.
Clinging to a four-point lead heading into the final quarter, the Panthers slammed the door defensively, limiting Duchess Park to just six points over the final 10 minutes to secure their place in the championship final.
Zahra Ngabo led the Condors with 12 points, while Devyn Bjorn and Ana Mackenzie chipped in 10 apiece in the loss.
