Falcons soar to semi-finals, join Eagles, Thunder, Viqueens in final four

Abbotsford’s Dasmesh Falcons won in dramatic fashion as the sixth seed advanced to the semi-final round of the BC School Sports 1A Girls Basketball Provincial Tournament, joining three of the top four seeds.
The Falcons next face the Cedars Christian Eagles (Prince George #2) while the No.1 Acwsalcta Thunder (Bella Coola) draw the No. 4 Nechako Valley Viqueens (Vanderhoof).

Cedars Christian Eagles 72 Immaculata Mustangs 38
A 23-point effort from Cadence Hooft powered Prince George’s Cedars Christian Eagles to a 72-38 win over the Immaculata Mustangs. Taylor Robertson led the Mustangs with nine points.
Dasmesh Falcons 52 Bulkley Valley Christian Falcons 49
Gurjaan Mahal scored 21 points – including the go-ahead 3-pionter with seconds to play – as the Dasmesh Falcons edged the Bulkley Valley Christian Falcons 52-49. Gurnoor Mahal led the Falcons with 23 points while the Royals’ Ameya McEwan finished with 27 points.
Nechako Valley Viqueens 47 Ebenezer Timbers 33
Tied at the half, Vanderhoof’s Nechako Valley Viqueens used a strong third quarter, defeating the Ebenezer Timbers 47-33. Abby Dykstra’s 13 points led the Viqueens with Madison Raap leading the Timbers with 10.
Acwsalcta Thunder 72 St. John’s School Eagles 58
Thirty-four points from Annika Parr and another 16 via Kashlyn Mack powered the Acwsalcta Thunder past the St. John’s School eagles 72-58. Liv Sveinson led the Eagles.
