Four teams are left standing at the Junior Boys Basketball Invitational Tournament following day two of the four-day competition at Langley Events Centre.
The top-seed Argyle Pipers (North Vancouver) will face the No. 4 Lord Tweedsmuir Panthers (Surrey) in one semi-final while the No. 2 St. Patrick Celtics (Vancouver) take on the No. 3 Terry Fox Ravens (Port Coquitlam) in the other. The latter game is a rematch of the 2024 championship final won by the Ravens.
The Pipers-Panthers tip off at 6:30pm followed by the Ravens and Celtics are at 8:00pm.
Day 2 Recap
St. Patrick Celtics 67 New Westminster Hyacks 60
Powered by Dhyne Cotin’s 11 fourth-quarter points, the Celtics advanced to the final four with a 67-60 win over New Westminster. Cotin finished with 17 while Jericho Labrador scored 16, which included four triples.
The Hyacks – who trailed by just a point in the final period – were led by Djordje Komar’s 23 points with Jesmin Krashinca chipping in 14.
Lord Tweedsmuir Panthers 71 Vancouver College Fighting Irish 57
Twenty-two points from Gurtaj Hayer earned Lord Tweedsmuir a spot in the semi-final round following the team’s 71-57 win over Vancouver College. Hayer was one of four Panthers to reach double figures, alongside Athwal Jaideep (16 points), Julka Maahir (14) and Shae Kaila (10). Ethan Chiu was the high scorer for Vancouver College with 19 points.
Terry Fox Ravens 58 Sullivan Heights Stars 45
Terry Fox only trailed briefly in the opening quarter, before building a double-digit lead the rest of way as they knocked off the Sullivan Heights Stars 58-45. Diego Castro and Robbi Gelipe each scored 15 points as the Ravens while Spencer McEvoy had 22 for the Stars.
Argyle Pipers 75 Burnaby South Rebels 54
A five-point game after two quarters, the No. 1 seed Argyle Pipers pulled away in the second half with a 75-54 over Burnaby South to book their spot in the final four. Nathan Szpak had 20 points to pace the Pipers attack with Logan Szpak adding 15 and Jayden Szpak chipping in 11. Miguel Samson and Panagiotis Samaris led the Rebels with 16 and 13 points, respectively.
