It will be No. 1 vs. No 2 in the BC School Sports 3A Boys Basketball Provincial Championships as the top-ranked St. Thomas More Collegiate Knights (Burnaby) will face the Windsor Wolves (North Vancouver). The game is set for 2:45 p.m. on Saturday (March 8) at Langley Events Centre.
#2 Windsor Wolves 74 #11 Mark R. Isfeld Ice 56
The Windsor Wolves shot nearly 52 percent from the field, denying the Mark R. Isfeld Ice a third-straight upset victory as the 11th-seeded Ice already had wins over No. 6 Magee and No. 3 St. Patrick.
The Wolves were up six at the half but used a 25-point third quarter to open a 15-point lead. Perrin Taylor led Windsor with a 35-point, 15-rebound effort. Oscar Rouillard added 16 in the win. Daxin Moldenhauer and Nate Boan led the Ice with 22 and 16 points, respectively.
#1 St. Thomas More Collegiate Knights 64 #4 Wellington Wildcats 62
It came down to the wire, but the St. Thomas More Collegiate Knights held off the Wellington Wildcats 64-62. The Knights were up nine after three quarters before the Wildcats rallied to pull within a point on three separate occasions, but Zeru Abera iced the game from the line, hitting seven-of-10 free throws. Abera finished with 21 points while teammate Shane Deza had a game-high 25.
Grayson Ritzland was the top scorer for Wellington with 22 points while Brayden Savage had 18.
