The seeding is out for the 2025 BC School Sports Boys Basketball Provincial Championships.
Vancouver’s St. John’s School Eagles are the top seed in the 1A Tournament, Surrey’s Pacific Academy Breakers have that distinction in the 2A Tournament, while Burnaby’s St. Thomas More Collegiate Knights and Victoria’s Spectrum Thunder are the top seeds in the 3A and 4A Tournament, respectively.
The seedings for the four tournament, 64-team field was announced on Sunday (March 2) ahead of the championships which run March 5 to 8 at Langley Events Centre. Altogether, 128 games will be played over the four days.
The tournaments conclude on Saturday, March 8 with the first championships final set for 12:30pm.
1A Tournament
While the Eagles are the top seed, they are joined by the Gidgalang Kuuyas Naay Breakers (Queen Charlotte), the Unity Christian Flames (Chilliwack) and Southpointe Academy Titans (Delta) as the top four seeds.
Unity Christian defeated the Breakers in last year’s championship game.
The rest of the field (in alphabetical order) are the Aberdeen Hall Gryphons (Kelowna), Cedars Christian Eagles (Prince George), Duncan Christian Chargers, Houston Christian Wildcats, Immaculata Mustangs (Kelowna), Meadowridge Gryphons (Maple Ridge), Nanaimo Christian Trail Blazers, Northside Christian North Stars (Vanderhoof), Osoyoos Rattlers, St. Ann’s Academy Crusaders (Kamloops), Sparwood Spartans and Ucluelet Warriors.
2A Tournament
The 2A Tournament features the defending champion Collingwood Cavaliers (West Vancouver) as the third seed with the Summerland Rockets at No. 2 and the Westsyde Whundas (Kamloops) at No. 4. Pacific Academy is the top seed.
The rest of the field (in alphabetical order) are the Abbotsford Christian Knights, Brentwood College (Mill Bay), Charles Hays Rainmakers (Prince Rupert), Credo Christian Kodiaks (Township of Langley), Fernie Falcons, King George Dragons (Vancouver), Khalsa School Lions (Surrey), Nechako Valley Vikings (Vanderhoof), Pacific Christian Pacers (Victoria), St. Michaels University School Blue Jags (Victoria) and the Samuel Robertson Technical Titans (Maple Ridge).
3A Tournament
Joining St. Thomas More Collegiate in the top four are the Windsor Wolves (North Vancouver), St. Patrick Celtics (Vancouver) and the M.E.I. Eagles (Abbotsford). The Eagles won silver in 2024.
The rest of the field (in alphabetical order) are the A.R. MacNeill Ravens (Richmond), Caledonia Kermodes (Terrace), College Heights Cougars (Prince George), Edward Milne Wolverines (Sooke), L.V. Rogers Grizzlies (Nelson), Magee Lions (Vancouver), Mark R. Isfeld Ice (Courtenay), Pitt Meadows Marauders, Richmond Colts, Sir Charles Tupper Tigers (Vancouver), Vernon Panthers and Wellington Wildcats (Nanaimo).
4A Tournament
The 4A field consists of the defending champions from Spectrum, the Dover Bay Dolphins (Nanaimo), the Vancouver College Fighting Irish and the Tamanawis Wildcats (Surrey). Dover Bay won the 3A title last year.
The rest of the field (in alphabetical order) are the Abbotsford Senior Panthers, Centennial Centaurs (Coquitlam), Heritage Woods Kodiaks (Port Moody), Holy Cross Crusaders (Surrey), Lord Tweedsmuir Panthers (Surrey), the Mount Baker Wild (Cranbrook), the Mount Boucherie Bears (West Kelowna), Prince George Polars, St. George’s School Saints (Vancouver), Semiahmoo Thunderbirds (Surrey), Terry Fox Ravens (Port Coquitlam) and the Yale Lions (Abbotsford).
